Warlocks in the news...
The Lockport Union-Sun & Journal ran an article on the L3 Robot Rulers on May 9th. See it here.
Lockport Journal April 29,2005
Our apologies to Team 1126, from Webster NY, who placed ninth in the Curie Division. They are indeed from New York and did place higher than we did, contrary to what the article says about us being the highest ranked team from New York.
We were the highest ranked team from NY as well as highest ranked rookie team in our division, the Galileo Division. On an actual cross-division ranking, we are #29. Still not bad out of 340 teams that competed in Atlanta.
Also, congratulations go to Team 1511, from Penfield NY, who went away with the National Rookie All-Star Award, the same award they won at the Fingerlakes Regional.
Delphi Intranet Article features The Warlocks...
STYLE: TEAMWORK
The number of teams in went from 33 at RIT to 55 at the Navel Academy, which raised the bar. During the competition, the announcer challenged the teams with a steak dinner if they beat the highest score in the "world" which was 119. There are nearly 1000 FIRST robotics teams that are competing in the world in 2005. Miraculously, just a few matches later when team 1507 teamed with team 1027, the bar was raised to 120. True to his word, the announcer gave the team a $50 gift certificate to Outback Steak house. After winning the quarterfinals of the elimination round, the 5th seeded Warlocks bowed out of the competition in the semi finals. The judges honored the team with the highest rookie seed award, Rookie Allstar award and an invitation to the world Championship event in Atlanta, Georgia at the Georgia Dome. Go to story. |

Here's what Delphi's intranet had to say about our team and the Rochester Competition. (March 22,2005)
Another article in the Union, Sun & Journal, March 8, 2005.
It didn't mention the Warlocks specifically, but here's a nice article on the Fingerlakes Regional in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle.
Congratulations to our friends, the L3 Robot Rulers, of Emmett Belknap Middle School, on winning the Director's Award at the Lower Hudson FIRST Lego League competition. Way to Go!
We have invited them to be our guests at the Finger Lakes Regional in Rochester and to be our official cheering section for that competition. Let's hope their good luck rubs off!
